But the process of buying and then flying left me with a lot of observations: some things surprised, some pleased, and some raised questions. A strange and overcomplicated website when buying a ticket<\/h3>\n<p>The first adventure began not even at the airport, but when buying a ticket.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The SriLankan Airlines website looks fine, but it works very strangely.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I can easily navigate the Internet, but it took me about 30 minutes to buy a ticket, although I usually book flights in a couple of minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What surprised me:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>many details need to be entered twice \u2014 last name, first name, patronymic, e-mail, and it is not always clear why;<\/li>\n<li>the booking form seems overloaded and illogical;<\/li>\n<p><after entering all the data and proceeding to the payment... the payment simply did not go through, without explanation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It turned out that in the end you need to manually choose which system you pay with \u2014 Visa or MasterCard. It&#8217;s hidden and looks completely unobvious. By the time I figured out where to put the right check mark, another circle of hell had passed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a result, instead of two minutes, I spent half an hour there.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It feels strange, as if the site has been developed for a very long time and has hardly been updated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u2e3b\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>2. An unusual seat selection system<\/h3>\n<p>Another surprise is the choice of seats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When you buy a ticket, the cost of choosing a seat is $49, which is almost half the ticket price. I declined the paid option.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But after that, the system offered me a free choice from very decent places.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6th row<\/li>\n<li>8th row<\/li>\n<li>10th row<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And these were not the worst options, but good seats at the beginning of the cabin. I managed to get a seat in the 6th row at the aisle, which is great for a free choice. Why this is so is a mystery, but it&#8217;s nice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2e3b\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>3. Generous baggage allowance<\/h3>\n<p>SriLankan Airlines really has very good conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>30 kg of checked baggage<\/li>\n<li>7 kg hand luggage, plus personal item<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But the main thing is that no one really checks it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Passengers boldly carry 2-3 things, backpacks, suitcases, packages \u2014 and all this passes without question.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2e3b\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>4. Chaos in the cabin due to too much hand luggage<\/h3>\n<p>Customer orientation is good, but it has a downside.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the cabin, chaos begins with the luggage racks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since there is no control, the rest of the passengers bring suitcases the size of half the luggage, huge backpacks and extra bags into the cabin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I was one of the first to board the plane and calmly took a seat for my two small bags.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But later, the shelves simply stopped closing: there were not enough seats, passengers were looking for empty slots all over the plane.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>If you do not board in advance, you may be left without a place for hand luggage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u2e3b\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>5. Advice to passengers: board first<\/h3>\n<p>If you fly with SriLankan Airlines, I highly recommend it.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>come to the gate in advance,<\/li>\n<li>sit down first if possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This way you are guaranteed to take a place on the luggage rack and avoid hassle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2e3b\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Bottom line: I liked the airline, but with its special features<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>SriLankan Airlines left a mixed but rather positive impression:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Positive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>cheap tickets,<\/li>\n<li>good baggage allowance,<\/li>\n<li>free choice of normal seats,<\/li>\n<li>very loyal attitude to hand luggage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Minuses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>inconvenient website and chaos when buying a ticket,<\/li>\n<li>clutter with hand luggage in the cabin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently flew from Kuala Lumpur to Colombo with SriLankan Airlines.\u00a0 I bought the ticket in advance \u2014 it cost only $ 100, which is very profitable for an international flight.
