Who is depressed? Who has the autumn blues? Who lacks bright colors and a piece of summer? Then let’s remember the citrus festival, which literally recently sparkled with all the sunny shades in Mersin, in Turkey.
This year, the fifth event took place on November 15-16.
A small clarification: do not confuse the event in Mersin with a similar festival in Menton (Menton Lemon Festival), which is in France.
The only difference is that the event on the Riviera has already been held more than eighty times and “starring” exclusively lemon.
And in Turkey– it is a relatively young event and everything is in use: oranges, lemons, grapefruits and other exotic fruits that can be classified as citrus.
On average, at least 100 tons of “consumables” are used annually to create sculptures, costumes and other installations.
I have no doubt that the French holiday can be more grandiose, famous, original, colorful, enchanting and so on.

After all, the lemon festival is older, which means it attracts more attention.
But I decided to dedicate this review specifically to the Turkish event.
What surprises me most is not the installations themselves, but the method of their manufacture.
I admire these wonderful turtles, elephants, houses, giraffes, pyramids, cars and other luxurious works and am perplexed: How do these hundreds and thousands of citrus balls hold together!?
How were they fastened, sewn, glued, screwed?
And I can’t find the answer to my question. Maybe it’s a “company secret”?
Definitely, it’s worth getting to such a wonderful event at least once, admire the grand parade, watch the fashion show of models who demonstrate fruit costumes and eat citrus fruits from the heart.
